POWERS
( QUANTUM PORTAL )
Rayne has the ability to "tear open" windows that show an alternate universe/dimension of his choosing, but he cannot bring objects or people from said dimension into this one, nor can he communicate with them. The windows are basically just for show.
( QUANTUM LEVITATION )
With the ability to manipulate the particles in his body, and convert them to quantum particles, Rayne has the ability to suspend and lock himself in space-time at a fixed height. Essentially it looks like he's standing on air, or flying on some people's eyes, but he can't really move unless propelled by something. Physicists like to think its a variation of the meissner effect, but he prefers quantum levitation.
( QUANTUM IMMORTALITY )
Rayne can take advantage of the fact that there are multiple versions of him in different universes. If he dies or is killed, he can "call upon" a version of himself to take his place, essentially resetting and reviving him (and indication that this is happening is that his dead body starts to emit purple lightning). The copy that takes his place will also adapt to the memories of the previous Rayne. There is however a bit of a downside; if his dead body is harmed greatly in anyway during the process of revival, the power will not complete and it basically will kill Rayne completely.

HISTORY
Once upon a time, a boy with a special gift was born... or well at first he was born dead. Yes, Rayne was actually a stillborn, or to be exact he died shortly after birth. His parents were devastated; his mother was in tears and his father was just angry. The doctors felt even worse that they couldn't do anything to bring him to life, and had no choice but to move the supposed child to hospital's morgue.
Shortly after doing this though, something amazing happened. Purple lightning began to coarse through his body from feet to head, and just 10 minutes after, the child started to cry. It certainly caught the attention of a few doctors and forensic scientists. His parents were especially surprised, but also overcome with joy that their child was alive. Doctors even today are still trying to find out what happened that day, but meanwhile Rayne is living a normal life... well somewhat normal life.
Thanks to knowing about his essence, he's learned of what he's capable of, and has learned to accept it, sometimes even share it with people that he hoped would understand. Ever since the day he was born... or reborn, however you want to see it as, he hasn't quite used his capabilities of immortality through science, and he doubts that he will.
